Not rice....Sep 19, 2006
I'm British, and this is one of the most popular candy bars in the UK (along with Cadbury's Flake). This bar does not contain either rice or 'popping candy' as stated in the description. Crunchie bars are old-fashioned 'honeycomb toffee' otherwise known as 'cinder toffee' covered in creamy milk chocolate. Honeycomb toffee is basically a regular toffee to which a very small amount of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda is added, causing the toffee to puff up into an airy, crunchy, light toffee full of tiny holes. The tiny amount of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda added does not adversely affect the toffee taste.

I don't much like chocolate or even candy bars in general, but I love Crunchie bars.
