We are The British Shoppe, the folk behind Rather Jolly® Tea. As Purveyors and Merchants of Great Teas from around the world, our British teas have become popular in the United States. The British Shoppe was founded in 1981 in the USA to meet the ever-increasing demand for quality British teas, delectable goodies such as Devon Clotted Cream and Scones or traditional must-haves like the practical tea cozy and Tea accessories like the Demi Spoons and the traditional English Tea Pot.

The British Shoppe seemed like a natural progression. Our parents had owned various businesses in England and I felt that there was a local market for British goodies. Very soon we began to get enquiries from outside of Madison, CT across the USA and so we went into the mail order business too!

Since 1981 The British Shoppe and Rather Jolly Tea® have helped untold numbers of customers sip their worries away, perk up to face the day or just enjoy the smooth, rich flavors of a superb blend of tea. Today’s tea drinkers are looking for more than just the British basics. The British Shoppe meets this need by offering everything you’ve come to expect from a tea shop, with the addition of more natural, healthier tea blends and foods from England. We eventually opened a tearoom, again a natural addition to the business. Having grown up with entrepreneurial parents, who also enjoyed cooking, baking and being creative and with all the wonderful British food ingredients at hand we knew that we could offer something that our customers would really enjoy." Thus the Front Parlour Tea Room was born.

We soon realized that our market wasn't just the British community, but also the Americans who had either visited the UK or Anglophiles who enjoy all things British. They all shared one thing in common; their need of a reliable source for their favourite British foods and teas."

In 1995, The British Shoppe expanded and made their first internet presence. Allowing their customers the ease of purchasing their favorite British teas and goodies online made a tremendous impact on the continued success of The British Shoppe, which now also offers healthier, more organic choices as well as the traditional favourites of Taylors of Harrogate Teas, Brooke Bond PG Tips Teas, award winning Twinings Black & Herbal Infusion Teas or the delicate smoky flavor of the Hu Kwa Tea, not to mention Fortnum & Masons Gourmet blend Teas.

Today Our Store the British Shoppe is now located in Orlando, Florida. We now supply all our local customers in our store but the demand, from around the world, for The British Shoppe’s fine gourmet teas, naturally made foods and british teas such as Twinings and Taylors plus our tea accessories is still apparent and orders are fulfilled everyday from all over the USA for our fine british fair.
